Kim Zarney, BFC Art for the Buffalo Leader & Buffalo Backbone Herd Bull, shares the story of a special friend of his who came for a visit. Kathy is a fused-glass enthusiast and always leaves him with something beautiful. Knowing of Kim's interest in Buffalo, this trip she gifted him a large “magic” buffalo plate. The piece was created in March out of buffalo glass pieces.

She had ordered all of them in black. When the shipment arrived, one of the small buffalo pieces was white instead of black. Wanting to use all the pieces, Kathy went ahead and included the white piece in the herd.

The “magic” plate had foretold the birth of the Yellowstone white buffalo calf on June 4, 2024...at least that’s what Kim will always believe!
